Hello! My name is Elise and I am fascinated by madness. Sparked by psychology A-level and a lifelong shoulder-to-cry on role, this interest has only been nurtured by my degree and the requirement to spend 90% of my time living the lives of fictional characters. This blog is a book-journal-come-research-facility-come-thought-vomit-receptacle for both my real life and dissertation. Currently studying for a BA in English Language and Literature at the University of Nottingham, my dissertation thesis is that of neurologically atypical narrators in fiction. In other (less poncy) words: characters and narrators who don’t fit into the ‘normal’ category of brain health – whether that be through schizophrenia, dementia, learning difficulties or autism. If all goes to plan, this will be a place of exploration, discussion and, most importantly, for learning.
